Grants of between £100 and £500 are available to support people to be more active.

As part of the workforce project we are pleased to announce the availability of funding to sport and physical activity providers. The funding is available to support training and the provision of physical activity opportunities which support inactive residents in the projects priority population groups and areas/communities.

The priority population groups are:

  • Older people
  • People with disabilities
  • People with long term health conditions
  • People from lower socio-economic groups (including young people and families)

Priority areas/communities:

  • Sidley
  • Bexhill – Sackville
  • Bexhill – Central
  • Pebsham
  • Rye
  • Eastern Rother – Camber

Sport and physical activity participation is a people business. The people who provide opportunities to be active are in wide range of roles, from lifeguards to reception staff, as well as coaches, instructors and session leaders and this workforce shapes the customer’s experience of taking part. Their passion, commitment and knowledge of sports and activity are great assets.

Successful applications will demonstrate how they are going to use the funding to develop themselves and/or their club/organisation against the priorities outlined above. You will need to show how your proposal aligns with the key findings from our Stage 1 report Rother Workforce Project Stage 1 report – Understanding Audiences.

Key issues to consider and include in your application are:

  • If applying for training, how will you or a colleague in your club/organisation then use the training to meet the needs of inactive people? How will you use the training in your provision of sport and physical activity opportunities? What will be your offer to residents?
  • If applying to use the funding to support your provision of sport/physical activity opportunities, think about the following. Will you use it to develop a new opportunity or develop an existing opportunity? Will the funding be used to make the opportunity more accessible for resident’s e.g. new location, reduced fees? If using the funding for publicity, how will you use it to help promote your opportunity in order to ensure you are reaching inactive people?
