Who we are.

Active Rother is a local initiative run by Rother District Council, helping residents across the Rother area find sports and physical activity opportunities to lead healthier, more active lives.

What personal data we collect and why.

Mailing list sign-ups.

If you choose to join our mailing list via the form on this website, we collect your email address. We use this to send you occasional updates about activities, events, and news in the Rother area.

We will only add you to our mailing list once you have actively ticked the consent box on our sign-up form.

The lawful basis for this processing is your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)).

You can withdraw your consent and ask to be removed from our mailing list at any time by emailing GettingRotherActive@rother.gov.uk. We will remove you promptly and without question.

Website enquiries and contact forms.

If you contact us via a form on this website, we collect the information you provide (such as your name and email address) in order to respond to your enquiry.

The lawful basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in responding to communications directed to us (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).

Website usage data.

When you visit our website, we collect anonymised information about how you use it, including pages visited and how you arrived at the site. This is collected via cookies (see the Cookies section below). This data is used to help us understand how the site is being used and how we can improve it.

The lawful basis for this processing is your consent, given via our cookie notice when you first visit the site.

How long we keep your data.

We keep mailing list email addresses for as long as you remain subscribed. If you ask to be removed, we will delete your address within 30 days.

Contact form enquiry data is retained for 12 months and then deleted.

Website usage data collected via analytics cookies is retained in accordance with Google's data retention settings, which we have set to 14 months.

Who we share your data with.

We do not sell your personal data or share it with third parties for marketing purposes.

Your email address, if you join our mailing list, is held by Stuart Ramsbottom (Active and Healthy Communities Specialist, Rother District Council) who manually manages the Partnership mailing list. It is not uploaded to any external email marketing platform.

Our website uses the following third-party services which may process data on our behalf:

Google Analytics (via Google Tag Manager): collects anonymised data about how visitors use our website. Google may process this data outside the UK. For more information, see Google's privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Brevo: used to deliver email notifications from our website contact forms to us. Brevo processes the content of form submissions in order to deliver them. For more information, see Brevo's privacy policy at https://www.brevo.com/legal/privacypolicy/.

Your rights.

The right to access. You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

The right to rectification. You can ask us to correct any inaccurate or incomplete data we hold about you.
