Youngsters from Bexhill and Sidley inspired by the stars of the World Cup can brush up their own football skills thanks to a series of summer sessions.
A qualified coach will lead informal sessions at Sidley Recreation Ground and Bexhill Downs in a bid to encourage young people to get involved in sports.
The events have been organised by Rother District Council through its Active Rother programme.
Cllr Jim Carroll, the district council’s cabinet member for young people, sport and leisure, said: “Exercise is an important part of living a healthy lifestyle and has huge benefits for physical and mental health and wellbeing.
“As well as getting as many young people as possible to get active and enjoy a game of football, we hope that the sessions will encourage residents to make better use of the outdoor spaces managed by the council.”
At both sites, sessions will run from 10am to 10.45am for six to 10-year-olds, and 11am to 11.45am for 11 to 16-year-olds.
Sessions take place at Sidley Recreation Ground on Tuesdays August 7, 14 and 21, and at The Downs, Bexhill on Thursdays August 9, 16 and 23.
Support from Rother District Council and Heart of Sidley means participants living in the Sidley or Bexhill area will only be asked for a minimum donation of £1 to take part if they fill in a registration form.
Those taking part are encouraged to arrive early and stay late to make use of the recreational grounds.
