We are always looking at ways to support you in helping inactive residents become active. Therefore we are once again making small grants available to local providers. The aim of this initiative is to provide small grants towards coach, instructor and/or volunteer training, that can help encourage and support inactive people to be active. Grants are available for amounts between £100 and £600. Funding should be used to enable recipients to address inactivity in the following Active Rother priority population groups and areas/communities. Priority population groups:
  • Older people
  • People with disabilities
  • People with long term health conditions
  • People from lower socio-economic groups
Priority areas/communities:
  • Sidley
  • Bexhill – Sackville
  • Bexhill – Central
  • Pebsham
  • Rye
  • Eastern Rother – Camber
Active Sussex have prepared a list of training courses that are available, covering a wide range of topics and from a range of different providers. Please contact us if you have difficulties accessing this information. There may however be other courses appropriate to your interest, but please note these should be accredited. Key issues to consider and include in your application are:
  • How will you or a colleague in your club/organisation use the training to meet the needs of inactive people?
  • How will you use the training in your provision of sport and physical activity opportunities? What will be your offer to residents?
  • How will it help encourage inactive people to be active and how will you show this is being done? How will you measure and monitor this and report to active rother?
  • Can you provide any funding to part fund the training you and/or colleagues are seeking to undertake?
  • When is the training available? Are you able to attend and complete by end of April 2021?
