Run sessions to help get older people active in Rother?
Then why not join a local network and receive free training?
Rother District Council, working with the Active Rother Partnership, is looking to set up a local network to support and encourage older people within the district to become more active.
This initiative builds on a successful ‘Ageing Well in the 21st Century’ event attended by hundreds of people in 2021, which gave residents the chance to meet local groups, try out new activities, and find new ways to improve their health and wellbeing.
The initial stage of developing the network is to invite activity leaders to an inaugural meeting at Bexhill Town Hall on 24th May at 4pm. This will form an initial group of Activity Provider Champions to lead the way and take this project forward. All those committed as a Champion will be given the chance to access ‘Live Longer Better’ online training and (if at an appropriate instructor level) be offered opportunities for a specialist qualification.
If you are, or know anyone who is, interested in being in the first group of older people Activity Champions, please contact gettingrotheractive@rother.gov.uk to receive an interest form and return as soon as possible.
